For help with PlayBetween, email us with the game name, your device model, iOS or iPadOS version, and what happened. Steps to reproduce the issue are especially useful. A screenshot can help, too—leave out anything personal.

Your first game

  1. Open PlayBetween and choose a game. Tic-Tac-Toe and Drop 4 are free; the other four games require the one-time unlock.
  2. Place your iPhone or iPad between you. Player 1 sits at the bottom of the screen; Player 2 sits at the top.
  3. Follow the turn prompts, or play simultaneously in Table Hockey. Player 1 hosts: use the three-dot menu to pause, open rules, change game options, or return to the library.

In Settings, you can adjust game sounds, gentle haptics, and Tic-Tac-Toe’s best-of-three preference. When a round ends, the board stays visible while the host chooses the next round or exits a completed match.

Six games, a quick refresher

  • Tic-Tac-Toe: make a line of three marks.
  • Checkers: select one of your pieces, then a legal destination. Capture opposing pieces and crown kings at the far edge.
  • Drop 4: tap a column to drop a disc. Connect four to win. The board rotates to face the active player.
  • Dots & Boxes: tap between adjacent dots. Complete a box’s fourth side to score and take another turn.
  • Flip Chip: trap opposing chips between yours to flip them. Finish with the most chips when neither player can move.
  • Table Hockey: both players touch their half to get ready, then drag their mallets to score. Quick matches go to three goals; Classic matches go to five.

Common questions

Does PlayBetween need internet or an account?

No account or internet connection is needed to play. Buying or restoring the optional game unlock requires internet and your Apple Account through the App Store. Once unlocked, those games can be played offline. Opening this website or sending a support email uses your browser or email app separately.

Which games are free, and what does the unlock cost?

Tic-Tac-Toe and Drop 4 are always free. One $2.99 purchase unlocks Checkers, Dots & Boxes, Flip Chip, and Table Hockey. This is the U.S. price; local prices vary and the App Store shows your price before you buy. There are no ads or subscriptions.

How do I restore my purchase?

Connect to the internet, use the Apple Account that made the purchase, then open PlayBetween’s Settings and tap Restore Purchases. You can also restore from the unlock screen. If the purchase is still awaiting approval, the games unlock after it is approved.

What if the App Store is unavailable?

Check your connection and try again later. Your free games and previously unlocked games remain available. If your unlock is missing after reinstalling or moving to another device, use Restore Purchases while online.

Can we play on separate devices?

This release is for two players sharing one iPhone or iPad. It does not include online or cross-device multiplayer.

Why are some labels upside down?

Player information and instructions face each person across the table. Drop 4’s playfield also rotates to face the active player after each move. The boards keep their portrait layout.

Can I change the Dots & Boxes board size?

Yes. Player 1 can use the host menu’s game options to choose Quick, Classic, or Long. Changing size restarts the game. The app remembers your most recent size.

How do we pause Table Hockey?

Player 1 opens the three-dot host menu to pause. Both players touch their half again to resume after a short countdown. Table Hockey uses simultaneous direct touch and visual motion.

Why does my beta look different?

This site previews the upcoming release. Earlier beta versions may have different games, purchase options, or saving behavior.

Can I undo a move?

No. Moves are final. At the end of a round, the host can continue to the next round or exit a completed match. If you return to the library during an unfinished game, it is saved so you can resume later.

What happens if I close the app?

Your preferences and unfinished games are saved on this device. Select the game from the library to resume. Table Hockey waits for both players to touch their half, then gives a short countdown before play resumes.

Why can’t I hear any sound?

Check the in-app Sound setting, your device’s volume, and Silent Mode. PlayBetween’s sounds respect Silent Mode.

Does PlayBetween collect my information?

PlayBetween does not send gameplay or player profiles to Streamr, and has no ads or tracking. Preferences, scores, and saved games stay on your device. Apple processes purchases and restores. Read the PlayBetween privacy policy for details, including Apple services, optional support, and TestFlight feedback.
